About Sanjay Bharatiya

Sanjay Bharatiya, a renowned Marathi screenplay writer, poet, and lyricist from Nashik, Maharashtra, has over 24 years of experience in the writing industry. He began his career as a Marathi copywriter and assistant creative director at top advertising agencies like Marks, Hallmark, Archies, and Porwal Creative Vision, creating advertisements, greeting cards, and stationery. His writings have also been published in prominent Marathi newspapers, including Sattachakra, Maharashtra Times, Loksatta, and Lokmat.

Born on February 9, 1976, in Bandra East, Mumbai, Sanjay grew up in a challenging environment, witnessing social issues like caste discrimination and political unrest. These experiences deeply influenced his poetry, leading him to focus on themes of social justice and equality. His first poetry collection, Bedhund, was published in 1999.

In addition to his writing, Sanjay ventured into Marathi cinema, penning the short film Cast No Bar (2019), which gained international recognition. His first music album, Prem Jhale Tula (2020), was released under the Times Music label. Sanjay also created the YouTube channel Shabdmanthan, where he shares his poetry.

Sanjay’s short film Chirbhog won the National Human Rights Commission's First National Award in 2022. He has also written several other short films, including Baat, Change, and Sauda, all addressing social issues.
